It looks like the Battle Royale survival mode is the next big thing that many developers will be chasing. Epic managed to hit it big (for now) with the free Battle Royale mode in Fortnite, announcing that they’ve already surpassed a million players who have downloaded and given the mode a go.
The announcement was made via a tweet they sent out, acknowledging that a million players popped in for the first day of the Battle Royale mode in Fortniate.

They haven’t talked about how much the game has sold so far during its early access run, which includes a paid version made available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game is not available on Steam, however, so that cuts out a large portion of the PC gaming audience who probably won’t want to be bothered to pay for and download an all new client for a game that’s going to be free-to-play next year anyway.
