Later this month German publishing outfit HandyGamers and Black Forest Games will release their hardcore 2D platformer, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Owltimate Edition for the Nintendo Switch. You’ll be able to pick up the game courtesy of publisher THQ Nordic starting September 25th.
The Owltimate Edition will be available for $29.99, and it will contain the original crowdfunded release of Giana сестри: кручена Мрії, which came out back in 2012, along with all of the additional post-launch DLC that came after.
The game is six years late to the Switch party, but it’s easily one of the most enjoyable side-scrollers made in recent history that absolutely deserves to have catch the attention of the wider audience provided by Nintendo’s little hybrid that could.
They actually don’t have a trailer for the Switch version of the game, but in case you were wondering what the gameplay is like, here’s the original launch trailer from six years ago.
Now you may not gleam it properly from the trailer, but the actual skill involved with the platforming and level-switching is off the charts.
The way it works is that you play as the two Giana Sisters and each one alters the stage when you switch between them. This changes what platforms appear, what objects are present on screen, and how certain platforms or structures are made visible. So you have to switch between the two sisters all throughout the levels, and it gets trickier and trickier, to the point where the reflexes required to complete some of the platforming puzzles is both frustrating and satisfying once you capture the necessary momentum required to complete the level.

The upcoming re-release of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Owltimate Edition will also feature brand new story cut-scenes, and music from German composer Chris Huelsbeck. Brand new tracks have also been added to the game from Swedish band Machinae Supremacy.
