Cyber Hook: 3D Retrowave Platformer анонсовано для ПК, Nintendo Switch

A new vector-space, retrowave-themed, first-person platformer called Кібер-гачок from indie outfits Blazing Stick and Graffiti Games, has been announced for release on Steam and Nintendo Switch at some point during the first quarter of 2020.

The game looks like a throwback to the PSX-era of games, but with a nice synthwave twist. The general gist of Кібер-гачок is that you have to traverse through more than 70 different levels in an attempt to make it out of a series of challenge-based obstacle courses filled with dangers, pitfalls, and plenty of spinning, rotating, and revolving platforms.

The game reminds me a lot of classic titles like Стрибки Flash! or new-school outings like Магруннер.

The gist is that you have to navigate through a series of obstacle courses using a grappling hook and a laser gun. The laser destroys blockades that are in your way, as well as opening up various blocks for use with your laser-grapple.

Але це ще не все.

The game relies heavily on building and maintaining momentum, not unlike Край дзеркала, where you have to run fast, swing fast and keep pace in order to reach the platform lest you fall to your death.

The level design is quite reminiscent of Disney’s original Tron, with a lot of wireframe vectors filling up the screen space. The backdrop, however, looks like something out of a New Retrowave video, though.

It’s fitting because the soundtrack is basically themed around the very same retrowave concept that the visuals are based on.

As a budget-priced title it doesn’t look bad, and if it has a soundtrack to keep the action going the way the trailer infers, then it could be a decent 3D platformer worth adding to the collection.
